“I’ll be your light, your match, your burning sun” – One Republic // This quote fits so well with Cassie and Dan’s Olive Park Engagement because of the crazy weather we had that day!
Cassie and Dan are getting married this September, so we planned on their engagement shoot in early June. We rescheduled a couple times because of all the rain we were getting here in Chicago and we thought we were safe on the night of their Olive Park Engagement. We started off in the Southport neighborhood with a special guest, their dog Ranger! OK, can’t we just all agree right now that he is one classy pup in his bowtie!?! Ranger was an amazing model, stealing the show at times, but I wanted some shots of the couple alone as well. We decided on the Olive park engagement because we wanted to capture Lake Michigan and the stellar skyline view! On our way down to Olive Park, to our dismay, the skies were getting darker and this intense heavy fog was enveloping the city……it was like something out of a horror movie to be honest! We decided that the world wasn’t ending and went a go with Cassie and Dan’s Olive park engagement as planned. We got to the park and realized that we could not see the lake nor the skyline at all ….. sad.face. I know Cassie and Dan were a bit disappointed, but I was actually really loving how mysterious and dreamy the fog made everything and we got some really cute shots despite the lack of the skyline view. The balloons were a fun touch and man, Dan can get some air, ha ha! Cassie and Dan, I loved getting to know you both better and meeting Ranger! I can’t wait for your wedding in September, I know it will be amazing! XO, Lisa
