“When it snows you have two choices, shovel or make snow angels” – Unknown // Sabrina and Joe’s Chicago winter engagement session was beyond beautiful!
So, while all of you guys have been toasty indoors binging on Netflix I have been out in the bitter temperatures making magic like this Chicago winter engagement session!
I met Sabrina 3 years ago when I photographed her good friends wedding and she was a bridesmaid. I was so excited when Sabrina contacted me after her boyfriend, Joe, had proposed. When we chatted about the couples engagement photo’s she mentioned that Joe’s family has some property where they got engaged and they would love some winter engagement photos with snow on the property. I LOVE when couples want to go to a location that is special to their relationship for their engagement, so the only thing we needed was the snow. Here in Chicago our winter started out very mild and we really didn’t know if we would get lucky to have snow on the trees for these Chicago winter engagement photos.
Fast forward one month and we not only had a lot of snow, but the snow was coupled with temperatures that were barely above zero (ouch). We decided to go for it and here are some tips for Chicago winter engagement photos:
- Buy hand and foot warmers, put them in your pockets when not taking photo’s
- Stylize your engagement shoot with fun clothing – like Sabrina’s mom’s AMAZING vintage fur coat!
- Get into exact position. take your coat off, snap some awesome photos, immediately put coat back on, repeat.
- Cuddle up buttercups, stay warm by staying close with your honey 🙂
Sabrina and Joe’s Chicago winter engagement photos go down in my photography career as one of the coldest days I have worked as well as 1000% worth every shiver to create these beautiful images! Joe and Sabrina – thank you both SO much for surviving the cold, I can’t wait for your wedding in September! Hugs, Lisa Kay
