“To love or have loved, that is enough. Ask nothing further” – Victor Hugo // This quote was printed and framed on Shannon and Kero’s sweetheart table and is so fitting for this sweet couple’s Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge Wedding.
I first met Shannon and Kero two years ago when I got an email from Kero explaining that he wanted to propose to his girlfriend asking if I could be there to capture this moment. To this day, it is still one of the most romantic proposals I have ever captured. Fast forward two years and Shannon reached out to me to inquire about photographing their Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge wedding in at the end of January. When planning a winter wedding I think the bride, as well as myself, both stress about how the weather would pan out and we were pleasantly surprised! The day arrived and it was mild and around forty degree’s – we lucked out!
The day started at the girls hotel room where I captured the bride getting ready and the one of the greatest “dad’s first look” that I have seen to date – it’s the sweetest moment! Shannon and Kero had a traditional Egyptian Orthodox ceremony at St Marks Coptic Orthodox Church of Chicago. The church is stunning and the ceremony was full of symbolism, including the crowing of the bride and groom (my favorite part). My husband is Serbian Orthodox and the ceremony was very similar to our own and brought back some great memories for me 🙂 After the ceremony the reception was held at Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge, a historic house in Hinsdale, just outside of Chicago. One of my absolute favorite photo’s is Kero dipping Shannon on the dance floor – a testament of how perfect these two are for each other! Shannon and Kero, I can’t thank you enough for trusting me with your wedding day memories! xo, Lisa
