“Kindness is like snow, it beautifies everything it covers” – Kahlil Gibran // A beautiful quote fitting for this styled shoot – a Chicago same sex winter wedding.
Winter is a quieter time for wedding photographers, so this is usually when my creative brain goes into overdrive. I was brainstorming with my talented fellow photographer and friend, Annah, about doing a winter styled shoot and this is our brain-child 🙂 We had this idea for a Chicago same sex winter wedding shoot with a woodsy feel and snow as our backdrop. As the date approached we crossed our fingers hoping that the snow didn’t melt as our vision came to life.
Styled shoots can be a challenge to organize and this same sex winter wedding was no exception. The morning of the shoot one of my models bailed and I frantically reached out to Jennifer to see if she was still available. Guys – she is amazing and came through in a pinch! Once hair and makeup were done it was go time. We started in my studio taking some gorgeous shots of these girls as they stayed warm and dry. We then headed out to one of the Chicago forest preserves to get the winter vision we had dreamed of. We didn’t expect the crazy aggressive deer that constantly tried to eat our beautiful bouquet (see 2nd photo below)! Confession: they may or may not have succeeded grabbing the boutonniere and swallowing it whole (whoops).
I cannot say enough about every single vendor involved in this styled shoot! (info and links below). Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
