“You are my favorite place to go when my mind searches for peace” // The way Fiona and Michael looked at each other the entire day of their Chicago London House wedding reminded me of this quote.
I met Fiona and Michael last summer when we took their engagement photo’s in Lincoln Park’s Nature Boardwalk. That day while chatting I asked Fiona where her hard to place accent was from and she said “I’m from South Africa” – and I excitedly said “me and my husband got married in South Africa!” Needless to say that bonded us – we hugged and laughed and felt like the universe had brought us together… yes, I’m hippy dippy like that ya’ll. Fast forward a few months to Fiona and Michaels London House wedding on a gorgeous day in late September. This day was perfection. Fiona is such a kind soul inside and out, the entire day her and her beautiful sister kept asking me “are you ok, do you need anything?” What bride does that on her own wedding day? The sweetest people ever! We started off the day with getting ready photo’s at Chicago’s London House. I loved the couple’s personal touches such as Michael’s horse cufflinks (he is a huge horse racing fan) and the groomsmen brought some scotch that was made in the city where Michaels family is from!
The Ceremony was on the third floor of Chicago’s London House and overlooked floor to ceilings windows giving the guests the gorgeous view of the Chicago river. After the ceremony I took Fiona and Michael to the riverwalk for some portraits that I adore! From there we headed to The Winchester restaurant in Ukrainian Village neighborhood for the reception. The Winchester was the perfect spot for the couples intimate dinner and reception. Fiona and Michaels friends and family danced the night away in style! Fiona and Michael, you are one of my favorite couples and weddings to date – THANK YOU for letting me be a part of such a beautiful day! xo, Lisa
