“…and I need you. Not in the ways to survive, but in the ways that make life worth living” – Jm Storm // This quote reminded me of the connection that Brittany and Vince shared during their Chicago home engagement session.
Brittany contacted me a few months ago inquiring about engagement photography and as we chatted she mentioned that her and her fiance, Vince, wanted something a little different. When couples think about a location for engagement photo’s it’s usually one of a number of popular locations around Chicago (see idea’s here), but Brittany and Vince wanted to have a Chicago home engagement session in lieu of the usual skyline or lake views. I have wanted to photograph a Chicago home engagement for SO LONG! I think the idea of getting cozy at home in your natural environment is super romantic and fun! We started in the kitchen where the couple had some coffee and got cozy on just snuggling like it was a lazy Sunday morning. Next, we took some shots by the windowsill, I, like most photographers, am a sucker for natural light like this! After a quick change of clothes, the couple got cozy on the couch and I really do think they forgot I was there altogether … almost. From the windowsill we headed to the bed for some more cuddles. At the end of our Chicago home engagement session we headed to the rooftop for a couple images outside and proceeded to lock ourselves out of the apartment! Don’t worry, Vince was our hero as he yelled down to some people walking by who helped us get back in, crisis averted! That was definitely a first for an engagement session. Brittany and Vince, I can’t thank you enough for thinking outside the box and having your romantic Chicago home engagement session! I can’t wait for your wedding next June! Hugs, Lisa
