It’s all about the location!

When it comes to choosing a branding photo shoot location it’s very important to think about all of your options.  The location(s) that you use for your branding shoot can make a huge difference to the feeling of your images and the story they tell. My role as a branding photographer is to create images that speak to your ideal client and entice them to find out more about you. In order to achieve this, you’ll want to plan your shoot to align with your brand values and visual aesthetic, so that they sit seamlessly alongside your logo, brand colors and fonts.  Let’s talk about some options:

Your Office, your home or workplace

If you have a visually appealing office space it makes sense to start there.  You don’t want to mislead your clients about where you will be doing business with them once they hire you.  Even if your space isn’t “ideal” we can do a lot with angles and lighting to make it look photo shoot ready.  Below are some images that were taken at clients offices:

Meeting room or co-working space

Co-working spaces are one of my favorite places to do branding photo shoots.  They are usually very well designed, have a lot of options for variety and are relatively inexpensive to rent.  The one downfall is that you have to work around the other patrons who are working there the day of your branding shoot.  There are many options in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs that are fabulous options for a variety of different looks for your branding photo shoot.  Once of my favorite co-working spots is Brick & Mortar in Park Ridge, IL.  There are also a ton of cool co-working locations in Chicago as well (Industrious and WeWork come to mind).  Below are some images that were taken at Brick & Mortar:

Rental space or apartment

Utilizing an entire rental space or apartment for your branding photo shoot location will give you the MOST control over your environment for your branding photo shoot.  Once you have a contract you are guaranteed a clean, beautiful space. The only downfall is that some spaces can be pricey, usually about $100/hr, but it’s so very worth that extra little push to make your photos stand out.  Chicago has many websites to help you research rentals such as Peerspace and Airbnb just to name a couple.  Below are some images that were taken at a rented apartment:

My home studio

I do have a dedicated small studio space in my home that I have used for branding photo shoots.  It is always available and FREE – which is a huge bonus.   Below are some images that were taken in my home studio:

Outdoors

Weather permitting outdoors is always a good option for your branding photo shoot.  The beach, the forest, city scape or even sunset.  Outdoor photos are always a great option and FREE! The only downfall is that we do need to consider the lighting and weather into the itinerary.  Below are some images that were taken outdoors with clients:
