“I wish I could turn back the clock and find you sooner and love you longer” – Unknown // I had so much fun at this Wicker Park Photo Shoot for my past wedding clients, Fiona & Michael.
I photographed Fiona and Michael’s amazing London House wedding one year ago (see it here). Fiona contacted me recently and told me that her and Michael are moving from Chicago to Iowa for work and she really wanted to get some anniversary photos in their neighborhood before they move. Of course I jumped at this idea because this couple was absolutely the sweetest couple of all time and I love the idea of sending them to their new city with memories of Chicago 🙂 We started the shoot at Big Star, where the couple goes to have coffee and read the newspaper on weekend mornings. From Big Star we headed North to the “L” stop where we got some great iconic Chicago images of the moving train. On the way to our final destination we spotted this amazing colorful mural that I loved! The way it contrasts with Fiona’s dress is just to die for. We ended Fiona and Michaels Wicker Park photo shoot at The Robey hotel and bar located right at the Damen, Milwaukee and North Ave intersection. I have probably walked by this building so many times and didn’t realize how amazing it was inside! I fell in love with the dark brick walls and the window light in one of their sitting area’s! The concierge asked if we were headed up to the rooftop bar and we and Fiona and I looked at each other and said “we are now!” What an amazing bar area and view! The Robey is cozy and classy and beautiful, I’m planning a date night of my own there ASAP!
Fiona & Michael, thank you so much for letting me capture some memories of your Wicker Park neighborhood for you, Happy Anniversary and I wish you all the best in Iowa!!! XO, Lisa Kay
